By using desimela.us ("the site", "DesiMela") you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

1. What DesiMela is

DesiMela is a community directory of South Asian businesses, events, and information across the United States. Listings are submitted by users, claimed by business owners, or imported from public sources. We are not a marketplace, payment intermediary, or escrow service.

2. Using the site

  • You must be at least 13 years old.
  • You agree not to: scrape the site, attempt to bypass rate limits, submit spam or fraudulent listings, impersonate a business you don't own, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to any account.
  • You are responsible for any content you submit.

3. Business listings

  • Accuracy: we make a reasonable effort to keep listings accurate, but listings may be outdated or contain errors. Always confirm key details (hours, address, phone) directly with the business before relying on them.
  • Claiming: a verified owner can claim and edit their listing. We may revoke a claim if we determine it was made fraudulently.
  • Removal: any business owner can request removal by emailing hello@desimela.us. We honor verified takedown requests within 7 days.

4. User-submitted content

When you submit a listing, photo, review, event, or other content to DesiMela, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display and distribute it as part of the directory. You retain ownership of your content. You can request removal at any time.

You agree your submissions are accurate, are yours to share, and don't infringe on anyone else's rights.

5. Paid features

  • Paid features (Featured listings, Premium tier, Sponsored slots, Job postings) are billed via Stripe.
  • Subscriptions auto-renew until you cancel. Cancel anytime from your owner dashboard or via Stripe's billing portal.
  • Refunds are at our discretion. We will refund the current billing period if a feature materially fails to function.
  • Job postings are one-time fees and non-refundable once the listing goes live.

6. Movie information

Movie data is sourced from The Movie Database (TMDB). DesiMela is not endorsed by or affiliated with TMDB. Showtimes are not provided.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

DesiMela is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the site will be available, accurate, or free from errors. Your interactions with businesses listed on DesiMela are between you and that business — we are not a party to any transaction.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, DesiMela's total liability for any claim related to the site is limited to the amount you paid us in the past 12 months (or $50, whichever is greater).

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption.

9. Indemnification

You agree to defend and indemnify DesiMela against any claim arising from your use of the site, your content submissions, or your violation of these terms.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to anyone who violates these terms. You may stop using the site at any time.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes are announced on the home page for 30 days. Continued use after changes means you accept the new terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA. Disputes go to courts located in Dallas County, Texas.
